How to Use and Care for Palo Santo

What is Palo Santo?

Palo Santo (“Holy Wood”) is a sacred tree native to South America, known for its cleansing and aromatic properties. It is commonly used for spiritual rituals, meditation, energy cleansing, and relaxation.

How to Use Palo Santo

1. Prepare Your Space

Ensure you are in a well-ventilated area.

Set an intention for your practice, such as clearing negative energy or
promoting relaxation.

2. Lighting the Wood

Hold one end of the Palo Santo stick and ignite the other end with a candle,
match, or lighter.

Let it burn for about 30 seconds to a minute until a steady flame forms.

3. Extinguishing the Flame

Blow out the flame, allowing the stick to smolder and release fragrant smoke.

If it goes out too quickly, relight as needed.

4. Cleansing & Smudging

Waft the smoke around yourself, your home, or any objects you wish to cleanse.

Move in a circular or sweeping motion to distribute the smoke evenly.

5. Allow the Stick to Rest

Place the Palo Santo stick in a fireproof dish or incense holder.

It will naturally stop burning after a short period.

How to Use & Care for Incense Sticks

1. Lighting the Incense:
Light the tip of the incense stick with a flame. Allow the tip to glow for a few seconds, then gently blow out the flame, leaving the incense to smolder and release fragrance.

2. Placement:
Always place the incense stick on a heat-resistant holder or tray to catch ash and prevent mess. Ensure the holder is stable and away from flammable materials.

3. Burning Time:
Incense sticks typically burn for 30–60 minutes, depending on their size. Ensure proper ventilation while burning for a safe and pleasant experience.

4. Storage:
Store unused incense sticks in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity. Keep them in their original packaging or in an airtight container to preserve fragrance.

5. Safety Tips:
Never leave burning incense unattended. Always extinguish the incense after use by carefully dipping the burning end into sand or using a water-filled container.
